All TurAventur activities are preceded by a safety briefing. When it comes to safety we believe all participants involved share the responsibility of acting safely. You are expected to inform your guide of any medical condition which my request special attention or procedures.

In case of accident there are some procedures that imply costs not covered by the TurAventur Personal Accident Insurance Policy that clients should be aware of at the time of the booking, such as:

• Whenever the national emergency system decides that the accidentee does not require an ambulance the accidentee must pay for the transport to the medical center of his choice.

• Only one person can go in the ambulance. If you want your partner to go with you, he/she will have to take a taxi and insurance will not cover for this.

• Be aware that accident insurance does not cover for any thing caused by a pre existence disease. For example in the case of an heart attack, our insurance does not cover.

Procedures:

• By fault, our ambulances take you to a public hospital and this is the option we recommend. If you want a private hospital you must request this and pay the cost of transportation.

• All medical care must be paid by the accidentee.

• The accidentee must collect all documents necessary to later present to the Insurance Company (invoices, reports, exams). If you are on a guided trip your guide will help you with all of these and might accompany you to the hospital – this will depend on a lot of factors.

• TurAventur will file the accident report with the insurance company and support the accidentee in presenting all documents and expenses necessary. The insurance company will from this point on contact directly the accidentee.

• The insurance company will decide if and how much to refund the accidentee, within the limits mentioned on number 6 of our Terms and Conditions. Count on a few months for this process.

• If you continue your treatments at home and want to present those costs also, invoices and reports must be in English or Portuguese.

We recommend hybrid bikes for our tours as they are versatile and comfortable. They weigh around 14 kg and have mixed-road tires (size 38'–40'). These bikes also come with suspension, making them ideal for enjoying a leisurely ride.

If you prefer, we have gravel bikes. Lighter and suitable to all the terrains.

We also have electric bikes which add up on fun. See our blog article about ebikes clicking here.

Road bikes are not part of our standard rental options, though we are happy to accommodate your request for an extra cost of about 270€ per bike per week.

The required documents can change according to your nationality.
1. Passport/ID Card: Valid passport, for up to 3 months from travel day, (international travel) or national ID card (European citizens only)
2. Visa: Please check if from your country you need a visa and be aware of timeframes and any additional requirements. At the time of last update of this document (April 2025), USA and Canada citizens did not need a Visa to visit Portugal for up to 90 days. Uk citizens neither.
3. Flight Itinerary: It is useful to keep it handy.
4. Travel Insurance: If you book an activity with us, a personal accident insurance is included, but not a travel insurance. We strongly recommend you buy one to guarantee you are fully covered in case of cancelation or accident. Our insurance has very limited coverage (the amounts obliged by law). We suggest this one but we don’t sell it.
5. Return Ticket: Not mandatory but recommended.
