Tour Reviews
We greatly enjoyed our 4-day Cycling in Paradise tour with Portugal Best Cycling. We were two couples and were joined by others on different days at the Country House. Cycling in the Alentejo region had so much to offer in terms of sights. We liked not being on busy roads and out in the country, plus staying in one place for 4 nights was relaxing. Electric bikes made it easier to climb up to castles and megaliths. Some stretches were easy (old rail beds) while climbs were rigorous but not too long fortunately. Jorge was fantastic guide. Enjoyed visiting the Cork factory, pottery shop, carpet museum, Chapel of Bones, Monsaraz, really all stops and sights. The meals were varied and quite tasty. One night we taxied to Evora for dinner and another night we did the cooking class which was fun.

Happy Cycling in Alentejo, May 2017
Our little group of 4 spent a very pleasant 5 nights/4 cycling days at the house near Evora. The house was a great base. Lovely rooms, each with a different theme, comfortable lounge to meet & chat with other guests & a spacious dining room for breakfasts & dinners.
The rides were a good mix of on & off road including a eco trail/rail trail. Destinations included a wine tasting, cork factory visit, carpet museum & cheese making visit.Plenty of variety.Breakfast buffet offered the same each day. There could be more variety.
We had outdoor picnics on the nights we weren’t provided dinner. Enjoyed the pool after the ride on a hot day.
Cycling Plus
My wife and I spent 3 days at the farm and did the self guided Cycling in Paradise tour. The riding was fabulous. Being in the countryside and the only noise was the birds tweeting was a beautiful experience. We decided to eat in each night and the food was sensational and just topped off each of the three wonderful days. The staff were extremely helpful and there is a special surprise on the property which is well worth asking about.I’d highly recommend.
My husband and I did the self-guided Cycling in Paradise tour in Alentejo in late June, 2016 and would recommend it highly. We loved the low-key, cozy feel of the farmhouse just outside Evora (the Wine Room is the best!). While our bike tour was self-guided we lucked into a first-day invitation to tag along with another couple who had a guide so we got a good initiation with Jorge showing us the way. We expected to ride every day and the routes looked amazing but the temperatures (100 degrees) were just too hot. for us. We rode a total of three days, opting to go with Jorge up to the castle yet another day, coming back to sit and read/swim at the pool at the farmhouse after each ride and waiting for wonderful dinners to be served by Joana. The company was great as we never knew who our fellow diners would be and we met people from many different countries. One night we even took a cooking class with a couple from Canada and made our own cod stew supper. We enjoyed a day just walking around Evora and learning about its history. Another day we got a ride to the cork factory. The best part for us was that the trip was so flexible. We didn’t know anything about this region of Portugal (just felt like an adventure) so didn’t really know what we would want to do so we just took each day as it came. Joana was such a pleasure and made us feel like we were special friends. We’d love to come back and do the coast ride, which I hear is cooler!
We did two days of guided tours from Evora and an evening cooking class at the farm. The first day was mainly off of paved roads through beautiful wildflowers. We did a winery tour, stopped for lunch and then visited a castle. Our second day was on quiet paved roads where we visited a cork factory and a prickly pear farm and then a winery. We had two different guides who were both great and they provided lots of perspective and historical information which we really appreciated. The bikes were great and we loved the jerseys which we have to keep as a souvenir of the great time we had. I would highly recommended a biking tour with Portugal’s Best Cycling company for anyone looking to explore Portugal’s beauty on two wheels.
